The Mission of the
Idaho Sheriffs' Association
The Idaho Sheriffs' Association has the responsibility to serve the people and communities of Idaho, and to uphold the laws of the state of Idaho and of the United States. To that end, the mission of the Idaho Sheriffs' Association is to:
Afford a ready and continuing means of cooperation between sheriff's officers of the state, for the better performance of their work and the discharge of the duties of their officers, and;
To extend the personal support, acquaintanceship, and understanding among the sheriffs of the state by conferences and discussions, and;
To study, prepare, and present to the Legislature such changes or additions to the current laws as the experience of the sheriffs would indicate, and would be beneficial in the effective enforcement of the laws, and in the better conduct of the business of the sheriff's officers, and;
To foster continued education, training, and dialogue which promotes cooperation, problem solving, leadership development, professionalism, and employee well-being, and;
To provide a centralized body through which prompt cooperation may be had with other public officials and bodies in the performance of their duties, and;
To give immediate support to fellow sheriffs, deputies, and their respective offices in times of need, and provide jail standards and inspection services; Social Security Administration reporting of incarcerated persons; ongoing research regarding offender facilities; scholarship opportunities for young people and victim notification services regarding their offender's incarceration status.
